Praying for your Pastor

Praying for your Pastor

Father, I pray today that my pastor will teach what accords with sound doctrine; be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness. May he show himself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in his teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about him. (Titus 2:1–8) May he devote himself to prayer and to the ministry of the word, (Acts 6:4) being ready to preach the word in season and out of season; Give him the power and desire to reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. (2 Timothy 4:2)

I pray that he always be sober-minded, enduring suffering, doing the work of an evangelist, fulfilling his ministry. Help him to fight the good fight, and to finish the race; to keep the faith. (2 Timothy 4:5–7) Keep him above reproach. Do not allow him to be arrogant or quick-tempered, violent or greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. Help him to hold firmly to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it. (Titus 1:7–9)

Teach him to shepherd the flock that you have given him, may he exercise oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly; not for shameful gain, but eagerly. (1 Peter 5:2) Father, please give him both speech and message that is a demonstration of the Spirit and of power. (1 Corinthians 2:4) Teach him to to wait for you Lord, to be strong and to take courage. (Psalm 27:14)
